Manuel Yarte was born in 1941. (Genre Murals & easel work) BFA UST under Antonio Austria and Galo Ocampo. His Classmates there were Alberto Cruz, Rodolfo Constantino, Abelardo Castillo, and Mario Parial. Parents were one of the first onion farmers of Bongabong, Nueva Ecija. Married to a niece of former First Lady, Luz Banzon-Magsaysay. Early lessons under Mr Ferrari from Pangasinan. Sideline in high school at UE with Cebuano billboard painter, Seri Josol, ow US-based. After graduation, worked as illustrator at and < Filipino> comics with Nestor Redondo, and at Racor Advtg with Loreto Racuya, Rented a stall on Mabini with the Ador de Vera, Ric Hernandez, Rodolfo Pasnu, and Deo Gonzales, so that they could have a studio to paint. On Mabini, met elder artist Salvador Cabrera and Cesar Buenaventura. One of his art patrons was Kua Ya, who owned a restaurant on Padre Faura. One of Kua Ya’s sons became an artist himself , Antonio Ko. Worked as drafter at Subic Naval Base for three years, teaching to officers wives at the Kalayaan Housing Hall in the late ‘60s. Aprentices for two years under painter Antonio Dumlao, and assisted the older man in doing the murals or the Intl Fair Seattle (and much later, the ceiling mural and stained glass windows of the Sto. Nino Shrine in Tacloban, 1974). Left the art scene for six years when he concentrated on his Cubao-Divisoria jeepney line, but a reunion with Antonio Ko got him back to painting again in the ‘90s. Commissions include the landscape mural for the Kidney Center, 1967; the mural at the UP Collage of Dentistry, 1968; and the Phil Military Academy mural 1999.Won 1st prizeat the Phi-American Women’s Club Competition in Subic Bay for a harvest scene rendered in three mediums, oil, watercolor, and charcoal sketches.
