KO, Antonio Jr.

 

Antonio Ko was born in Manila in 1956. He studied Fine Arts at University of Santo Tomas and was the recipient of the UST Benavidez Award in 1981. He presented his first one man show in 1989 at the Philippine General Hospital and had various exhibits in mainstream galleries and museums both in his native Philippines and abroad. He handled painting classes for the National Museum and the Philippine Women’s University in 1990 and did commissioned murals for Novaliches Church and Equitable Bank, the most renowned is the stained windows of the Sta. Ana Church. Known for realist, impressionist idioms, the most notable era for Antonio Ko was during the 90’s where he painted a variety of styles producing serious works using oil, acrylic, and watercolor renditions of nature themes, and was equally adept at realistic subjects including human figures, portraits and still life. His paintings are found in the collection of former First Lady Imelda Marcos, the former Mayor Bagatsing, industry giants, and the homes of the upper crust society.
