ROQUE, Jaime

Jaime Roque was born in 1947. He took up Art studies at PWU 1971. He was a friend of the artists at J Romero Advertising, thus becoming a part of the Magic Realist group that was formed there by Nestor Leynes with Emmanuel Llado, Lito Barcelona, and Ger Viterbo. Their first group was held at Sining Kamalig 1973. They held two other shows that year. The group actively exhibited under an Andrew Wyeth influence in ’75, ’77, ’78, and ’79, after which they disbanded. He had two-man shows with Lito Barcelona in 1972 and ’81. He was greatly influenced by the nature paintings of Boy Rodriguez, his teacher at PWU.
