Lynden Garcia was born in Tugegarao, Cagayan 1946. He is known for prints and abstract paintings. He took up Art studies in UST, 1965 and BFA PWU 1969. His father, Juanito, established the J.P. Garcia & Sons in Tugegarao in 1950, a painting shop specializing in billboards and streamers. In early ‘60s, he worked at Royal Art Frames in Mabini, which was owned by his father’s brother, Boanarges, where he learned to do restoration. At PWU, he met Virgilio Aviado, Efren Zaragoza, and Manuel Rodriguez Jr, who introduced him to printmaking. He lived in Baguio in the ‘70s, working as art director of the Angeles-Baguio-Olongapo Trade Directory. He set up his own frame shop in Olongapo in 1975, the Art East Gallery. He was active in the Mariposa Artists group of printmakers in the early ‘80s. His first solo was at the Mariposa Gallery in 1992. Active in restoration work at present.
In 1967, he won at the CMLI spot painting contest, and 2nd place in the Downtown YMCA painting competition. He received 1st prize at the PAP Annual, and won a consolation prize at the 18th SNSAC of 1968. He participated in the Wakayama, Japan print competition, 1993. Entries chosen Juror’s choice at the AAp and Diwa ng Sining awards.
