Ramon Doplon was born in Iligan, Mindanao. He took up Fine Arts in Philippine Womens University. In 1997, he received a CAYA-CLT study grant to interact with and absorb the artistic traditions of the Hanonoo Mangyans in Mansalay, Oriental Mindoro. He is known for his expressionist abstract pieces. He tries to use the colors of the South, and has worked around the okir motif. His recent works are a mixed media of watercolor, pastel, acrylic and stoneware. He consistently uses bright but transparent royal colors common to the Maranao. He is a member of the Kaisahan group.
