Absalon Marticio was born in Donsol, Sorsogon, 1949. He is a well-known portrait artist, a member of the Tuesday Group, Tanay Group, and Arte Ethnikia, a group based at the National Museum, Philippines. In 1975 he received several commissions to do portraits for the American Bases Authorities at Clark Air Base. In 1985, Marticio was commissioned by American Johnny Easter to do a series of paintings and worked part-time as an art instructor at the Subic Naval Base and later worked as a designer for Reprocrafters in 1989. He established Century Artrade, a source of paintings consigned to Plaza Fair and S.M Shoemart and later branched out to T-shirt printing, doing portraits on T-shirts and gaining expertise in textile paints. His first major exhibit was conducted in 1989 at Metro Bank, Manila, and was elected one of the Board of Directors of the Angeles Artists Association.
