Lodronio Crisanto was born in Bulan, Sorsogon in 1945. Initially working in advertising, he was the art director at Permaline Outdoor Signs, Media Boutique, and Hemisphere Lintas Advertising where he was part owner before deciding to paint full time in 1992 apprenticing under fellow artist Romme Bautista. Crisanto is best known for stylized figures of homes of old Manila and Philippine neo-motifs of jeepneys, crowd scenes, and family trees in colorful baroque renditions of folk art. Belonging to a family of artists, grandfather Fortunato was a sculptor of religious images and younger brother is renowned print maker Dani Sola. In school at University of the East, he was taught by art giants such as National Artists Abdulmari Imao and Ang Kiukok and was a finalist in Diwa ng Sining art competition in 1994.
